Republican Challenger Kevin McConville Defeats Robert Langley In Putnam County Sheriff Race

A highly contentious and hotly contested sheriff’s race in Putnam County wound up in a resounding win for the Republican challenger.

In his third time running for the position, challenger Kevin McConville won over incumbent Sheriff Robert Langley with more than 57 percent of the vote on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

McConville garnered 12,222 (57.4 percent) of the vote, versus Langley’s 9,074 (42.6 percent) to claim the victory.

“All through this campaign I have had the pleasure of meeting residents and discussing law enforcement operations with them,” McConville said. “I have truly enjoyed spending time with our neighbors and in our communities, learning about their various concerns.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and say thank you to each and everyone I have met,” he continued. “I also want to thank the candidates for their dedication to others and the concern for their communities they have.”
